Josh Knupp

Josh Knupp joined the Delmarva Aces in August 2017.

He played collegiately at Hagerstown Community College, where he received an 85% scholarship to become a two-year starter and team captain of the D1 JUCO.

At HCC, he played eight of nine positions and excelled on the field throughout. In his sophomore year at Hagerstown, Knupp led the team in batting average, hits, and runs scored. He finished his career with 85 games played, 80 hits, 49 runs, 22 SBs and 46 RBI’s. He hit for a 323 batting average, and reached base safely with a .365 OBP.

After HCC, Knupp attended Mississippi State University, where he operated their Trackman System, providing the 2013 NCAA Division I runner-ups with realtime up-to-date reports directly to the staff on sabremetrics of both Mississippi State team and visitors. He finished his baseball playing career by playing two years of semi-pro baseball in Tupelo, MS for the Snowtown Stars.

As a prep, Josh played travel baseball for the Virginia Patriots, Under Armor Southwest and for the NVTBL Stars. He lettered four years in high school baseball for Thomas Edison HS in Alexandriva, VA. At TEHS, Knupp was a three-time first-team All District honoree. He was named to the second-team All-Region once and Honorable Mention All-Region once as well. He continued his awards by being named a top-3 athlete at Thomas Edison and was the MVP of the baseball team three times from 2007-2010.

He is currently the a front office member of the Delmarva Shorebirds and has a lengthy career working in college/MiLB baseball. He is a former front office member of the Pittsburgh Pirates/Bradenton Marauders and has also worked in the front office for the University of South Florida. He was also member of the Rutgers University Athletic Department.
