Dave Whigham
Dave serves as the Owner and President of the Delmarva Aces and was an Associate Scout with the Baltimore Orioles for three years from 2018-20. He founded the organization in 2014. He played seven years of professional baseball with stops in the United States, Australia and Europe. He threw nearly 400 innings professionally with eight different teams. The RHP pitched three years with the El Paso Diablos in 2018 and was named a 2009 American Association All-Star after he going 3-0 with a 3.88 ERA in 53.1 IP. In 2011, he pitched for the Melbourne Aces in the Australian Baseball League in 2011 after putting together a solid campaign for the Essendon Bombers of the Victorian Baseball League. He was honored to the New York State League Hall of Fame in 2010.
He pitched for the Chico Outlaws in 2011, before splitting one season in the Frontier League between Schaumburg and Southern Illinois the following season. n 2013, he was named “Top Strikeout Artist” by Baseball Avenue after striking out 101 hitters in 80.1 IP for the Stockerau Cubs of the Austrian Baseball League.
He is a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and played collegiately at Guilford College and Virginia Wesleyan College. Across his career, he is ranked seventh all-time in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) history with 242 career strikeouts. He holds the single-season record at Guilford for strikeouts-per-nine with 11.79 after he fanned 93 in 71 innings in 2006. He also stands fifth all-time in strikeouts-per-nine (9.16) and seventh in winning percentage (70.8%). He was 17-7 in three seasons with the Quakers.
He resides in Ocean City, Md., and graduated from Virginia Wesleyan with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management. He went on to receive his Masters of Education from Salisbury University in 2012.
